MEET THE CO-FOUNDERS

Abstract continuous line portrait.png

Amandine Ferrand

I share my life with Soukie, my beautiful four-year-old Golden Retriever—and it is very much because of her that I chose to become involved in this association.

Over time, I began to feel that her quality of life in the city was becoming increasingly limited. Access to natural spaces—especially the lake—has grown more restricted, even though these environments are essential to her well-being.

What I find difficult to accept is that dogs are often the first to be excluded, sometimes for reasons that seem unclear or inconsistent. The protection of flora and fauna is frequently invoked, yet human activities that also have a tangible impact continue to be permitted. For me, this raises a fundamental question: how can we share public space in a way that is both fair and coherent?

This reflection is what led me to take action.

As an architect, I have a practical understanding of how cities are shaped—not only through their physical spaces, but also through the processes that govern them. I am accustomed to working with public authorities, navigating administrative frameworks, and identifying the levers needed to move projects forward. Today, these skills allow me to contribute to the association’s work in a concrete and pragmatic way.

With Soukie—who, like many Golden Retrievers, loves the water—I take every opportunity to enjoy the lake and nearby green spaces. These simple moments are deeply important, and they constantly remind me why this commitment matters.

I am convinced that by genuinely listening to everyone’s needs and approaching one another with understanding, we can create a more harmonious way of living together in the city.
